What’s Allowed at Anaheim Cemetery
Anaheim Cemetery is a flat-marker cemetery; upright monuments aren’t part of the district’s program, though the grounds do include several historic mausoleums from the cemetery’s early years. Markers may be granite, marble, or bronze, one solid piece, a minimum of 3 inches thick, with no feature raised more than 3/8 inch above the surface. A 2-inch faux or etched border is allowed, but cement borders have been prohibited since 2015. Bronze markers require a separate cemetery-supplied base. Photo tiles are permitted with a signed waiver on file.
Infant Marker 20″ × 10″
The smallest permitted flat marker, 3 inches thick. Infant spaces can also take the 24″ × 12″ or 28″ × 16″ size.
Single 24″ × 12″
The standard single adult casket-space marker, 3 inches thick. Room for a name, dates, and a short inscription.
Single 28″ × 16″
A larger single adult casket-space marker, 3 inches thick, with more room for artwork or a longer inscription.
Oversized 32″ × 20″
The largest single casket-space marker Anaheim Cemetery permits, 3 inches thick. Carries a higher setting fee than the standard sizes.
Sycamore Garden 20″ × 10″ / 24″ × 12″
For the in-ground Sycamore Garden: 20″ × 10″ for a single cremation space, 24″ × 12″ for a double. No borders are allowed on Sycamore Garden markers.

How long does it take to get a headstone made and set at Anaheim Cemetery?
In-stock flat markers are ready in 2–4 weeks. Special orders may take longer; we’ll let you know up front. Once delivered to Anaheim Cemetery, the cemetery typically sets the marker within five business days.
What are the setting fees at Anaheim Cemetery?
The Orange County Cemetery District charges a marker installation fee, paid directly to the district before the marker is set: standard sizes (24″×12″, 28″×16″, 20″×10″) are $300, and the oversized 32″×20″ marker is $420. If you’re adding a second marker to a space that already has one, a $200 endowment fee applies with prior approval. These fees are separate from the cost of the memorial and are billed by the District directly.

Why can’t I buy the headstone from the cemetery?
Anaheim Cemetery is a public cemetery district, and California law prohibits public cemeteries from selling memorials. Families buy the marker from a monument company like ours, and the District installs it for a setting fee.
Do you handle the approval process with Anaheim Cemetery?
Yes. Everything goes through our office. You approve the design proof, we take it from there: paperwork, section verification, delivery coordination. No separate calls to Anaheim Cemetery on your end.
Can I add an inscription to an existing memorial at Anaheim Cemetery?

Home to the Oldest Community Mausoleum on the West Coast
Founded in 1866, one of the oldest cemeteries in Orange County.
The 15-acre grounds include a community mausoleum built in 1914, the oldest on the West Coast, along with four private family mausoleums and the graves of more than 500 war veterans. Anaheim Cemetery’s original casket-burial sections are now largely full, though cremation and infant spaces remain available, and families with an existing casket space can still order and install a marker at any time.
