Approved Sizes and the Cemetery’s Regulations
Big Bear Memorial Park accepts flat markers, slant markers, upright monuments and granite benches, in granite or bronze. Most families choose a flat marker, and the two sizes we make most often here are the 24″ and the 28″ single markers. Infant graves take a smaller 20″ marker. Big Bear Mortuary, which runs the cemetery from its office in town, can confirm what a particular grave allows.
Infant Marker 20″ × 10″ × 3″
The size Big Bear uses for infant graves, with room for a name, dates and a small emblem.
Single Marker 24″ × 12″ × 3″
One of the two most common flat markers at Big Bear, with room for a name, dates and a short line or emblem.
Single Marker 28″ × 16″ × 3″
The larger of the two common flat sizes, with room for an inscription and artwork such as a portrait or mountain scene.
Slant Marker 28″ × 10″ × 16″
The usual slant size at Big Bear. The angled face stands 16″ tall and reads easily from the path.
Upright Monument
Upright headstones and monuments are allowed at Big Bear. Call us with the grave location and we’ll confirm the size that fits.
Granite Bench
Memorial benches are allowed at Big Bear, a good choice for a family plot or a quiet spot to sit.
Bronze Marker 24″ × 12″ · 28″ × 16″
Bronze flat markers are accepted at Big Bear, in the same 24″ and 28″ footprints as the granite markers.

What Families Say About Us
What Families Ask About Big Bear
Do you handle everything with Big Bear Memorial Park?
Yes. We design and engrave the memorial at our Chino factory, and once you approve the design proof we take it from there: paperwork, cemetery approval, and delivery coordination. The cemetery office is not on the grounds. Big Bear Mortuary runs the cemetery from town, so that is who we work with on your behalf.
What are Big Bear Memorial Park’s visiting hours?
Big Bear Memorial Park never closes. Families can visit 24 hours a day, every day of the year. For section or grave location questions, call Big Bear Mortuary, which runs the cemetery, at (909) 585-4911.
What types of memorials are allowed at Big Bear Memorial Park?
Big Bear Memorial Park allows flat markers, slant markers, upright monuments and benches, in granite or bronze. See the Cemetery Regulations section above for every permitted size and section rule.
What are the setting fees at Big Bear Memorial Park?
As of October 20, 2026, Big Bear Memorial Park charges these setting fees, paid to Big Bear Mortuary and separate from the cost of the memorial:
- Flat marker, set level with the ground: $175
- Flat marker, raised above the ground and set in cement: $275
- Slants, upright monuments and benches: quoted for each memorial. Call us at (909) 902-9000 for the current fee.
Who installs the marker at Big Bear Memorial Park?
Big Bear Mortuary’s crew. Once the finished memorial reaches Big Bear, their team places it on the grave. A flat marker can be set level with the ground or raised above it on cement. The setting fee covers this installation.
How long does it take to get a headstone made and set at Big Bear?
In-stock flat markers are ready in 2–4 weeks. Special orders may take longer; we’ll let you know up front. Once delivered to Big Bear, the memorial is usually set within a week, weather permitting. Markers are not set while snow covers the ground, so a winter order may wait until the snow clears.
Can I add an inscription to an existing memorial at Big Bear Memorial Park?
Yes. We add inscriptions to existing memorials on site at Big Bear Memorial Park. We bring our portable engraving equipment right to the gravesite, so there’s no need to disturb the memorial or coordinate a removal. Adding a second name, a death date, or a short inscription typically takes a couple of hours on site. Learn more about on-site engraving →
