Approved Sizes and the Cemetery’s Regulations
Evergreen accepts flat granite markers in two sizes, plus upright monuments. Monument dimensions vary by plot and section, so we check what your space allows with the cemetery on every order. Before a memorial is placed, the family signs Evergreen’s authorization form at the cemetery office.
Single Marker
24″ × 12″ × 3″. The smaller flat marker at Evergreen, with room for a name, dates, and a compact design.
Single Marker
28″ × 16″ × 3″. The standard single adult marker, with room for a name, dates, an inscription, and artwork such as a portrait or scene.
Upright Monument
Granite monuments are placed at Evergreen. Dimensions depend on your plot and section, so we confirm what your space permits with the cemetery when you order.
Evergreen allows our full palette of 18 granite colors.

Do you handle everything with Evergreen?
Yes. We design and engrave the memorial at our Chino factory, and once you approve the design proof we take it from there: paperwork, cemetery approval, and delivery coordination. Evergreen asks the family to sign its authorization form at the cemetery office; we let you know when it’s ready for your signature.
What are Evergreen’s visiting hours?
Evergreen Cemetery is open daily from dawn to dusk. For holiday hours or section access questions, call the cemetery office at (323) 268-6714.
What types of memorials are allowed at Evergreen?

What are the setting fees at Evergreen Cemetery?
Evergreen charges a setting fee paid directly to the cemetery, separate from the cost of the memorial: $595 for flat markers and $1,350 for upright monuments. Fees listed as of July 9, 2026.
Who installs the marker at Evergreen?
Evergreen’s own grounds crew. We deliver the finished memorial to the cemetery, and their team handles the installation. The setting fee covers it.
How long does it take to get a headstone made and set at Evergreen?
In-stock flat markers are ready in 2–4 weeks. Special orders may take longer; we’ll let you know up front. Once delivered to Evergreen, the cemetery typically sets the marker within five business days.
Can I add an inscription to an existing memorial at Evergreen?
Yes. We add inscriptions to existing memorials on site at Evergreen Cemetery. We bring our portable engraving equipment right to the gravesite, so there’s no need to disturb the memorial or coordinate a removal. Adding a second name, a death date, or a short inscription typically takes a couple of hours on site. Learn more about on-site engraving →
From Our Chino Factory to Evergreen
Our factory and showrooms in Chino are about 33 miles from Evergreen Cemetery, roughly a 45-minute drive west on the 60 into Boyle Heights. Every memorial bound for Evergreen is designed and hand-finished here in Chino, then delivered by our own team.

The Oldest Cemetery in Los Angeles
Established in 1877 in what was then rural Boyle Heights, the first Los Angeles cemetery operated by a private company.
Evergreen spans roughly 67 acres and holds more than 300,000 interments, among the most of any cemetery in the city. Five of its acres were originally set aside as the city’s potter’s field, and its sections reflect generations of Japanese American, Mexican American, Armenian, Jewish, and African American families. Biddy Mason, one of Los Angeles’ first prominent Black landowners and philanthropists, is buried here, along with city founders including Andrew Boyle and the Van Nuys family.
