Approved Sizes and the Cemetery’s Regulations
Forest Lawn Glendale allows bronze memorial tablets, set flat and flush with the lawn. Granite is allowed only to match a granite tablet already on the same property, with Forest Lawn’s approval, and there are no upright or slant monuments. Each tablet is cast in one piece with a sloping flange around the edge and finished in Light Statuary Bronze, Dark Statuary Bronze, or Verde Antique. Photographs are not allowed on the tablet, including porcelain and stainless steel photos, but a bronze portrait cast into the tablet itself is welcome. A single space carries one name. Companion tablets keep each name on its own panel.

The smallest bronze tablet for a single space. This is also the only size allowed in the infant and child sections.
Standard Single Tablet 28″ × 16″
The standard bronze tablet for one person, with room for a name, dates, an inscription and an emblem or cast portrait.
Large Single Tablet 28″ × 20″
A taller single tablet with extra room for artwork and a longer inscription.
Companion Tablet 28″ × 20″
One tablet for two people on a companion space, with each name on its own equal panel. A second name can be added later on a matching bronze panel.
Historical Tablet
Up to 30″ × 39″. A larger tablet, single or companion. The size must be approved by Forest Lawn before the tablet is made.

Where the Memorial Park Began
Glendale is where the memorial park was born.
In 1917, Dr. Hubert Eaton looked over a plain hillside cemetery and set out to build something different: a great park instead of a field of stones. He took out the upright headstones, marked each grave with a flat bronze tablet, and renamed it Forest Lawn Memorial-Park.
Cemeteries across the country soon followed, and many took the name memorial park. Flat lawns were easier to care for in newly developed sections. Mowers could run straight across them, there was far less hand trimming around stones, and upkeep cost less.
The park’s best-known treasure is the Last Supper window in the Great Mausoleum, a stained glass copy of Leonardo da Vinci’s painting made by Rosa Caselli Moretti in Perugia, Italy. The figure of Judas broke five times in the kiln before the window was finished. It was unveiled in 1931.
Families from across the Glendale and Burbank area use Forest Lawn Glendale, including Glendale, Burbank, Pasadena, Eagle Rock, La Crescenta, and Montrose.
