Approved Sizes and the Cemetery’s Regulations

Forest Lawn’s Rules: What’s Allowed

Forest Lawn Long Beach allows bronze memorial tablets, set flat and flush with the lawn. Granite is allowed only to match a granite tablet already on the same property, with Forest Lawn’s approval, and there are no upright or slant monuments. Each tablet is cast in one piece with a sloping flange around the edge and finished in Light Statuary Bronze, Dark Statuary Bronze, or Verde Antique. Photographs are not allowed on the tablet, including porcelain and stainless steel photos, but a bronze portrait cast into the tablet itself is welcome. A single space carries one name. Companion tablets keep each name on its own panel.

Small Single Tablet

24″ × 14″. The smallest bronze tablet for a single space. This is also the only size allowed in the infant and child sections.

Standard Single Tablet

28″ × 16″. The standard bronze tablet for one person, with room for a name, dates, an inscription and an emblem or cast portrait.

Large Single Tablet

28″ × 20″. A taller single tablet with extra room for artwork and a longer inscription.

Companion Tablet

28″ × 20″. One tablet for two people on a companion space, with each name on its own equal panel. A second name can be added later on a matching bronze panel.

Historical Tablet

Up to 30″ × 39″. A larger tablet, single or companion. The size must be approved by Forest Lawn before the tablet is made.

Every new tablet at Forest Lawn Long Beach is solid cast bronze, in a light, dark or verde antique statuary finish.

Allowed tablet sizes vary by section. Not sure what your section permits? Give us a call and we’ll look it up for you.
