Approved Sizes and the Cemetery’s Regulations
Holy Cross is a Catholic cemetery operated by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, so every memorial follows the Archdiocese’s own installation rules. Markers must be granite or bronze, only one flush-type memorial is allowed per grave, and no marking may extend above the surface of the ground, so upright monuments are not permitted here. Every memorial must include a cross, properly proportioned and worked into the design. Engraving highlights are limited to black or white lithochrome; colored paint is not permitted and any memorial finished with it will be removed. An LMP (lawn-mower-proof) edge is highly recommended. Families who choose a straight edge instead must sign a waiver at the cemetery office acknowledging possible damage, since Holy Cross will not repair or remake a memorial installed that way.

Do you handle everything with Holy Cross?
Yes. We design and engrave the memorial at our Chino factory, and once you approve the design proof we take it from there: paperwork, cemetery approval, and delivery coordination. No separate calls to Holy Cross on your end.
What are Holy Cross’s visiting hours?
Holy Cross’s gates are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in spring and summer and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in fall and winter. For holiday hours or section access questions, call the cemetery office at (310) 836-5500.
What types of memorials are allowed at Holy Cross?
Holy Cross allows flat granite and bronze markers only, each worked around the required cross, following the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ installation rules. See the Cemetery Regulations section above for every permitted size and section rule.
What are the setting fees at Holy Cross?
As of July 1, 2026, Holy Cross charges a setting fee of $595 for granite markers and $695 for bronze markers, paid directly to the cemetery and due before installation. Endowment care is included in that fee, not billed separately. The endowment care fund is a savings account that funds the long-term care of the grounds; every cemetery in California is required by law to maintain one.
Who installs the marker at Holy Cross?
Holy Cross’s own grounds crew. We deliver the finished memorial to the cemetery, and their team sets it level with the ground. The setting fee covers this installation.
How long does it take to get a headstone made and set at Holy Cross?
In-stock flat markers are ready in 2–4 weeks. Special orders may take longer; we’ll let you know up front. Once delivered to Holy Cross, the cemetery typically sets the marker within five business days.
Can I add an inscription to an existing memorial at Holy Cross?
On site engraving is one of our specialties at most Southern California cemeteries, but Holy Cross handles inscriptions on existing memorials in house through their own office. To add a name, date, or inscription to a memorial already at Holy Cross, contact the Holy Cross office directly at (310) 836-5500.
Do I have to use an LMP edge at Holy Cross?
No, but it is highly recommended. An LMP (lawn-mower-proof) edge holds up better against grounds equipment over time. If you’d rather have a straight edge instead, Holy Cross requires a signed waiver at their office acknowledging the marker may be damaged, and they will not repair or remake it. We can walk you through both options when you’re designing your memorial.
From Our Chino Factory to Holy Cross
Our factory and showrooms in Chino are about 48 miles from Holy Cross Cemetery, roughly an hour’s drive west on the 10. Every memorial bound for Holy Cross is designed and hand-finished here in Chino, then delivered by our own team.
