What’s Allowed at Memory Garden
Memory Garden permits flat tablet markers only, in bronze or granite, set level with the ground, with no combination of the two materials on a single marker. No upright monuments, built-in vases, or concrete borders are allowed anywhere in the park, and only one marker is permitted per grave. We offer granite tablets in Memory Garden’s three permitted sizes below.
Single Marker 24″ × 12″
The smaller flat granite tablet at Memory Garden, permitted for a single grave.
Single Marker 28″ × 16″
The standard single-grave tablet at Memory Garden, with room for a name, dates, an inscription, and artwork.
Companion Marker 36″ × 14″
A side-by-side companion tablet for two adjacent graves, the only companion size Memory Garden allows.
In Section F, the Garden of Eternal Memories, only the 16″ × 28″ granite marker is permitted; no other size or material is allowed there. The Veterans Field of Honor uses an exclusive marker sold directly through Memory Garden.
Memory Garden allows our full palette of 18 granite colors for standard markers.

What Families Ask About Memory Garden
How long does it take to get a headstone made and set at Memory Garden?
In-stock flat markers are ready in 2–4 weeks. Special orders may take longer; we’ll let you know up front. Once delivered to Memory Garden, their team sets the marker as part of their regular schedule.
What are the setting fees at Memory Garden?
Memory Garden charges a setting fee of $250 (as of March 2026) for our granite tablets: the 24″×12″, the 28″×16″, and the 36″×14″ companion. This fee is paid directly to the cemetery and is separate from the cost of the memorial. Memory Garden also maintains an endowment care fund, as required by California law, that pays for the long-term care of the grounds.
Do you handle the approval process with Memory Garden?
Yes. Memory Garden requires a signed installation authorization for every outside marker. We prepare it, coordinate the signatures with your family, and submit it to the cemetery’s office along with the delivery schedule. No separate trip to Brea on your end.
Can I add an inscription to an existing memorial at Memory Garden?
Yes. We add inscriptions to existing memorials on site at Memory Garden. We bring our portable engraving equipment right to the gravesite, so there’s no need to disturb the memorial or coordinate a removal. Adding a second name, a death date, or a short inscription typically takes a couple of hours on site.

A Brea Landmark Since 1956
Founded by brothers Richard and Franklin Keeline on land they’d once used for their own plant nursery.
Memory Garden Memorial Park opened in May 1956 on the Keeline family’s former nursery property. Utter McKinley Mortuaries purchased the park in 1977 and completed an on-site mortuary in 1980, making Memory Garden the first combined mortuary-cemetery in North Orange County. The grounds span just over 30 acres and include a Veterans Section with its own Field of Honor.
Families from across North Orange County use Memory Garden, including Brea, Fullerton, Yorba Linda, La Habra, and Placentia.
Ownership: Private. Founded by the Keeline family in 1956 and purchased by Utter McKinley Mortuaries in 1977.
