Portraits Set Into the Granite
The oval shown here is the recessed area we carve into the granite to receive a porcelain portrait. The finished portrait is not simply glued onto the surface of the headstone. It is carefully set into the recessed opening so the portrait sits flush with the surface of the granite, creating a cleaner, more finished appearance while helping protect the edges of the portrait.
