Mount Sinai’s Rules: What’s Allowed

Mount Sinai Memorial Park accepts flat lawn tablets only, in granite or bronze, and each tablet is one material or the other, never a granite and bronze combination. Granite tablets are one solid piece, 3 inches thick, with a 2 inch polished bevel edge, and nothing is engraved on the bevel. Uprights, slants and benches are not allowed. Emblems are limited to accepted Jewish religious symbols, and other designs such as flowers, landscapes or hobbies need the park’s approval. A photo of the loved one may be etched directly into the granite or set as a ceramic tile; porcelain photo tiles are not allowed.

Standard Tablet 28″ × 20″ × 3″

The taller tablet, with room for a second inscription and artwork such as a portrait.

Large Tablet 30″ × 39″ × 3″

The largest lawn tablet the park accepts, a half ledger size with the most room for names, dates, inscriptions and artwork.

Bronze Marker

Bronze lawn tablets are accepted at Mount Sinai, in the same 28″ × 16″, 28″ × 20″ and 30″ × 39″ sizes as the granite tablets.
