Approved Sizes and the Cemetery’s Regulations
A flat granite marker is the standard memorial in Mt. View’s lawn sections, and each one is cut from a single solid piece of granite three inches thick. The cemetery accepts three edge treatments, a lawn mower proof edge, a polished beveled edge, or a two inch sanded border, and your family picks whichever one you like. One of the three is required, and the two inch sanded border carries no additional charge, so the starting prices below are the real starting prices. A lawn mower proof or polished beveled edge is an upgrade and we will quote it with your design. Upright monuments are permitted at Mountain View, but only in the designated upright sections: the base may be up to 36 inches wide over one grave space, or up to 42 inches wide over two side by side spaces, and total height including the base stays under five feet. Before an upright is ordered, your counselor at the cemetery confirms that your particular lawn and space allows one.
Baby Marker
24″ × 12″ × 3″. The smaller of the two infant sizes Mountain View permits, with room for a name, dates, and a small piece of artwork.

24″ × 14″ × 3″. The larger infant size, two inches deeper than the 24″ × 12″, which gives a little more space for an inscription or a scene.
Single Marker
28″ × 16″ × 3″. The standard adult marker at Mountain View and the size most families choose. Room for a name, dates, an inscription, and artwork such as a portrait, a cross, or a scene.
Companion Marker
32″ × 20″ × 3″. A two name marker set over a companion space, wide enough to carry both names side by side along with a shared design.
Side by Side Marker
56″ × 14″ × 3″. The long companion marker, centered across two adjacent graves. Because of the width it is quoted per design rather than from a starting price.
Mountain View puts no restriction on granite color, so you can choose from our full palette of 18 granite colors.

Do you handle everything with Mountain View?
Yes. We design and engrave the memorial at our Chino factory, and once you approve the design proof we take it from there: paperwork, cemetery approval, and delivery coordination. The one step that stays with your family is a quick word with your counselor at Mountain View, who confirms that your particular space allows the memorial you have chosen. That matters most for uprights, which are permitted only in certain sections.
What are Mountain View’s visiting hours?
Mountain View Cemetery is open sunrise to sunset. For holiday hours or section access questions, call the cemetery office at (909) 882-2943.
What types of memorials are allowed at Mountain View?
Mountain View allows flat granite markers throughout its lawn sections, and upright granite monuments in the designated upright sections only. See the Cemetery Regulations section above for every permitted size and section rule.
What are the setting fees at Mountain View Cemetery?
Mountain View charges an installation fee that is separate from the cost of the memorial. As of August 19, 2026 the fees are $345 for a baby marker, $545 for a single marker, $695 for a companion marker, and $895 for an upright monument. We collect this fee with your order and pay it to the cemetery for you, so there is nothing separate to settle at the office. Mountain View does not bill endowment care as its own line item; that fund, a savings account that pays for the long term care of the grounds and that every cemetery in California is required by law to maintain, is covered in the plot price.
Who installs the marker at Mountain View?
Mountain View’s own grounds crew. We deliver the finished memorial to the cemetery, and their team sets flat markers level with the ground and installs monuments on their foundations. The installation fee covers this work.
How long does it take to get a headstone made and set at Mountain View?
In-stock flat markers are ready in 2–4 weeks. Special orders may take longer; we’ll let you know up front. Add a few days at the start for your counselor to confirm the space, since that has to happen before the stone is cut. Once delivered to Mountain View, the cemetery typically sets the marker within five business days.
Can I add an inscription to an existing memorial at Mountain View?
Yes. We add inscriptions to existing memorials on site at Mountain View Cemetery. We bring our portable engraving equipment right to the gravesite, so there’s no need to disturb the memorial or coordinate a removal. Adding a second name, a death date, or a short inscription typically takes a couple of hours on site. Learn more about on-site engraving →
From Our Chino Factory to Mountain View
Our factory and showrooms in Chino are about 32 miles from Mountain View Cemetery, a 40-minute drive east on the 60, then north on the 15 and east on the 210 to Highland Avenue. Every memorial bound for Mountain View is designed and hand-finished here in Chino, then delivered by our own team.

A San Bernardino Landmark Since 1907
The stone tower at the entrance has marked the corner of Highland Avenue since the cemetery opened in 1907.
Mt. View covers 65 acres on the north side of San Bernardino, with the San Bernardino Mountains rising behind it. More than 75,000 people are buried or entombed here. The mortuary building went up on the property in 1994 and Hinze Hall, the reception space, in 2008. Alongside the lawn sections there are community and private mausoleums, indoor and outdoor columbaria, an ossuary, and three cremation gardens set with boulders and benches. The roads through the grounds are wide, which means most families can drive close to a grave rather than walk across the lawn.
