A Memorial Park in the Hills of the Conejo Valley
Opened in 1967 in Westlake Village, on the line between Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
Valley Oaks sits on 42 acres with mountain views, lakes and shade trees, and about 20 of those acres are developed today. The park has ten gardens. The largest, the Garden of Gethsemane, centers on a Carrara marble statue of Christ kneeling, placed in 1968. Others include the Court of Saint Peter, Beth Olam Gardens and the Garden of Valor, where an eternal flame honors veterans. The Settlers Cemetery holds 29 Conejo Valley pioneers moved here from the Old Russell Cemetery in 1969. Each Memorial Day the park holds a ceremony, and scouts place a flag on every veteran’s grave.
Families from across the Conejo Valley use Valley Oaks, including Westlake Village, Thousand Oaks, Agoura Hills, Calabasas, Oak Park and Newbury Park.
Ownership: Private. Owned and operated by Service Corporation International under the Dignity Memorial name.
