Crestlawn’s Rules: What’s Allowed

Crestlawn’s standard memorial is the flat granite marker. Each marker must be 3″ thick and can have one of three border types: a flat lawn-mower-proof edge, a beveled edge, or a 2″ sanded border. Granite memorials may include cameo or photo etch portraits, and any of our granite colors is accepted. Bronze memorials are accepted too, in any color, with a cameo portrait. Inscriptions must include the legal name of the deceased.

Baby / Cremation Marker 18″ × 9″ × 3″

The smallest permitted marker at Crestlawn, for baby and cremation spaces.

Single Marker (Small) 24″ × 12″ × 3″

A compact single space marker for standard in ground plots.

Single Marker (Standard) 28″ × 16″ × 3″

The most common single space marker at Crestlawn.

Standard Marker (Large) 32″ × 20″ × 3″

A larger single space marker with more room for artwork and inscriptions.

Companion Marker 44″ × 14″ × 3″

One marker spanning two side by side in ground spaces. A 28″×16″×3″ across two graves is not permitted.

Half Ledger 30″ × 39″ × 3″

Requires General Manager approval before ordering.

Ledger 32″ × 70″ × 4″

A full coverage marker over a single space.

Full Ledger 36″ × 72″ × 4″

Requires General Manager approval before ordering.

Bronze memorials are accepted at Crestlawn in any color, with a cameo portrait if you want one. The 44″ and 56″ sizes are companion markers for side by side spaces.

What Families Ask About Crestlawn

Do you handle everything with Crestlawn?

Yes. We design and engrave the memorial at our Chino factory, and once you approve the design proof we take it from there: paperwork, cemetery approval, and delivery coordination. No separate calls to Crestlawn on your end.

What are Crestlawn’s visiting hours?

Crestlawn’s grounds are open daily from 8:00 am to sunset. For holiday hours or section access questions, call the Crestlawn office at (951) 689-1441.

What types of memorials are allowed at Crestlawn?

Crestlawn allows flat granite and bronze memorials only, no upright monuments or slants. See the Cemetery Regulations section above for every permitted size.

What are the setting fees at Crestlawn?

As of October 12, 2026, Crestlawn charges a setting fee on every outside memorial. It is billed by the cemetery and is separate from the cost of the memorial itself. The fee is $595 for the 18″ × 9″ baby marker and for single markers up to 32″ × 20″ (24″ × 12″, 28″ × 16″ and 32″ × 20″). Companion markers and any size larger than 32″ × 20″, including ledgers, are $695. Call us at (909) 902-9000 with any questions about your marker size.

Who installs the marker at Crestlawn?

Crestlawn’s own staff. We deliver the finished memorial to the cemetery, and their team sets it level with the ground. The setting fee covers this installation.

How long does it take to get a headstone made and set at Crestlawn?

In-stock flat markers are ready in 2 to 6 weeks after design approval. Special orders may take longer; we’ll let you know up front. After we deliver to Crestlawn, the grounds crew usually sets the marker within 2 to 3 weeks. We coordinate the delivery schedule with the cemetery office so you don’t have to.

Can I add an inscription to an existing memorial at Crestlawn?

On site engraving is one of our specialties at most Southern California cemeteries, but Crestlawn handles inscriptions on existing memorials in house through their own office. To add a name, date, or inscription to a memorial already at Crestlawn, contact the Crestlawn office directly at (951) 689-1441.

Crestlawn Memorial Park spans 255 acres on the border of Riverside and Norco, California. Established in 1952 as Pierce Brothers Crestlawn Memorial Park and Mortuary, it has grown into the largest regional memorial park in the area, with grounds divided into 14 distinct gardens, many dedicated to specific faith traditions. In 1991, Crestlawn joined the Dignity Memorial network, North America’s largest provider of funeral, cremation, and cemetery services.
