Rustic Boulder with Bird Etching in Local Stone

Rustic Boulder with Bird Etching in Local Stone Upright MonumentLocal Stone Granite

This monument for the Hansen family stays true to its name, a rustic boulder left entirely in its natural, unpolished state with no smooth panel anywhere on the face.

The hummingbird and flower etching, along with every letter of the inscription, is cut directly into that raw texture rather than into a polished surface.

Local Stone’s rough, granular face means our engravers rely on depth and shadow alone to keep the lettering and etching legible, since there is no polish to set it apart. The result reads like the words grew naturally out of the rock itself.
