Queen of Heaven’s Rules: What’s Allowed

Queen of Heaven is a Catholic cemetery operated by the Archdiocese of Los Angeles, so every memorial follows the Archdiocese’s own installation rules. Markers must be granite or bronze, only one flush-type memorial is allowed per grave, and no marking may extend above the surface of the ground, so upright monuments are not permitted here. Every memorial must include a cross, properly proportioned and worked into the design. Engraving highlights are limited to black or white lithochrome; colored paint is not permitted and any memorial finished with it will be removed. An LMP (lawn-mower-proof) edge is highly recommended. Families who choose a straight edge instead must sign a waiver at the cemetery office acknowledging possible damage, since Queen of Heaven will not repair or remake a memorial installed that way.

V.J. Memorials is the place to go if you are looking for a headstone for your loved one. They were very efficient, patient and empathic during our difficult time. Corrine made the process very smoothly for our family. Their turn around time is the fastest in the surrounding counties and their prices are very reasonable for their great quality of work. Would strongly recommend to visit their business you will not be disappointed!

I wanted a personal and meaningful grave marker for my baby. I found Vj memorials online and set up an appointment. This vendor exceeded my expectations. Corinne made the process of purchasing easy and comfortable for me and my husband. I came with my own design and Corinne was able to create a very similar one which I am very happy. She explained and answered all the questions that I had. I am truly grateful for good service she provided us.

We called VJ Memorials after speaking with another business that just didn’t feel welcoming. From the first phone call, they were kind and patient with us. We came in the next day, designed everything, and paid — the whole process was easier than we expected. She was so empathetic and kind during a hard time. We highly recommend them. Our memorial will be placed in Pomona Cemetery.

Corinne helped we right away and explained everything. Made the process so much easier. I told her exactly what I wanted and she is gonna make it happen. Best part I don’t have to wait months for headstone. The headstone will be placed at Bellevue.

Common Questions

What Families Ask About Queen of Heaven

Do you handle everything with Queen of Heaven?

Yes. We design and engrave the memorial at our Chino factory, and once you approve the design proof we take it from there: paperwork, cemetery approval, and delivery coordination. No separate calls to Queen of Heaven on your end.

What are Queen of Heaven’s visiting hours?

Queen of Heaven’s gates are open daily from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. in spring and summer and 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in fall and winter. For holiday hours or section access questions, call the cemetery office at (626) 964-1291.

What types of memorials are allowed at Queen of Heaven?

Queen of Heaven allows flat granite and bronze markers only, each worked around the required cross, following the Archdiocese of Los Angeles’ installation rules. See the Cemetery Regulations section above for every permitted size and section rule.

What are the setting fees at Queen of Heaven?

As of July 1, 2026, Queen of Heaven charges a setting fee of $595 for granite markers and $695 for bronze markers, paid directly to the cemetery and due before installation. Endowment care is included in that fee, not billed separately. The endowment care fund is a savings account that funds the long-term care of the grounds; every cemetery in California is required by law to maintain one.

Who installs the marker at Queen of Heaven?

Queen of Heaven’s own grounds crew. We deliver the finished memorial to the cemetery, and their team sets it level with the ground. The setting fee covers this installation.

How long does it take to get a headstone made and set at Queen of Heaven?

In-stock flat markers are ready in 2–4 weeks. Special orders may take longer; we’ll let you know up front. Once delivered to Queen of Heaven, the cemetery typically sets the marker within five business days.

Can I add an inscription to an existing memorial at Queen of Heaven?

Yes. We add inscriptions to existing memorials on site at Queen of Heaven. We bring our portable engraving equipment right to the gravesite, so there’s no need to disturb the memorial or coordinate a removal. Adding a second name, a death date, or a short inscription typically takes a couple of hours on site. Learn more about on-site engraving →

Do I have to use an LMP edge at Queen of Heaven?

No, but it is highly recommended. An LMP (lawn-mower-proof) edge holds up better against grounds equipment over time. If you’d rather have a straight edge instead, Queen of Heaven requires a signed waiver at their office acknowledging the marker may be damaged, and they will not repair or remake it. We can walk you through both options when you’re designing your memorial.
