Approved Sizes and the Cemetery’s Regulations
Desert View Memorial Park accepts granite memorials, and bronze plaques mounted on a granite base. Flat markers come with either a plain edge or a polished bevel edge, and every granite piece is at least 3 inches thick. Most of the park takes flat markers, from a single grave marker up to a full ledger, and upright monuments are welcome in the sections built for them once the cemetery approves the design. Nothing made of concrete or other man-made material is allowed on a grave at Desert View Cemetery.
Infant Marker
20″ × 10″ × 3″. The smallest flat marker at Desert View, plain edge, set inside a concrete border. Infant sections only.
Single Marker
24″ × 12″ × 3″. A compact single marker with a plain edge. Desert View sets this size inside a concrete border.
Urn Garden Marker
24″ × 14″ × 3″. Polished bevel edge. The required size in the Acacia Urn Garden, and one of the two sizes used in the infant sections.
Single Marker
28″ × 16″ × 3″. The standard single adult marker, plain edge or polished bevel. Room for a name, dates, an inscription, and artwork such as a portrait or scene.
Single Marker
32″ × 20″ × 3″. A larger single marker, plain edge or polished bevel, with extra room for a longer inscription or a second portrait.
Companion Marker
40″ × 18″ × 3″. A side by side marker for two adjacent spaces, plain edge or polished bevel. Centered across both graves.
Companion Marker
60″ × 20″ × 3″. The widest companion marker Desert View allows, polished bevel edge, spanning two adjacent spaces.
Half Ledger
30″ × 39″ × 3″. Polished bevel edge, covering roughly half the grave space. A generous canvas for artwork and a longer inscription.
Full Ledger
36″ × 72″ × 4″. Polished bevel edge, covering the full grave. The largest flat memorial Desert View accepts.
Upright Monument
Custom sizes. Granite die on a granite base, at least 3 inches thick, in the sections that take uprights. Desert View reviews each design before it is made and may call for a concrete foundation under heavier monuments.
Desert View allows our full palette of 18 granite colors.
Allowed marker types and sizes vary by section. Not sure what your section permits? Give us a call and we’ll look it up for you.

What Families Say About Us
What Families Ask About Desert View
Do you handle everything with Desert View?
Yes. We design and engrave the memorial at our Chino factory, and once you approve the design proof we take it from there: paperwork, cemetery approval, and delivery coordination. No separate calls to Desert View on your end.
What are Desert View’s visiting hours?
Desert View Memorial Park is open Monday through Friday and Sunday from 8 AM to 5 PM, and Saturday from 8 AM to 4 PM. For holiday hours or section access questions, call the cemetery office at (760) 244-0007.
What types of memorials are allowed at Desert View?
Desert View allows flat granite markers with a plain or bevel edge, half and full ledgers, bronze plaques on a granite base, and upright monuments in the sections built for them. See the Cemetery Regulations section above for every permitted size and section rule.
What are the setting fees at Desert View Memorial Park?
Desert View charges a setting fee paid directly to the cemetery, separate from the cost of the memorial: $695 for regular flat markers, $895 for companion markers, and $1,195 for ledgers and upright monuments. Fees listed as of September 28, 2026.
Who installs the marker at Desert View?
Desert View’s own grounds crew. We deliver the finished memorial to the cemetery, and their team sets flat markers level with the ground and installs monuments on their foundations. The setting fee covers this installation.
How long does it take to get a headstone made and set at Desert View?
In-stock flat markers are ready in 2–4 weeks. Special orders may take longer; we’ll let you know up front. Once delivered to Desert View, the cemetery typically sets the marker within a week.
Can I add an inscription to an existing memorial at Desert View?
Yes. We add inscriptions to existing memorials on site at Desert View Memorial Park. We bring our portable engraving equipment right to the gravesite, so there’s no need to disturb the memorial or coordinate a removal. Adding a second name, a death date, or a short inscription typically takes a couple of hours on site. Learn more about on-site engraving →

The High Desert’s Largest Cemetery
Founded in 1978 by William Truscott and Robert Hinze of the Mt. View Cemetery Corporation, the family behind Mountain View Cemetery in San Bernardino and Montecito Memorial Park in Colton.
Desert View Cemetery sits on Amargosa Road on the south side of Victorville, with 14 developed acres in use and another 38 acres set aside for the future, which makes it the largest cemetery in the city. The grounds include a Veterans Lawn, a Catholic Lawn dedicated in 2004, the Whispering Waters Cremation Garden, and the Cathedral of Roses mausoleum. A chapel seating 200 was added along with an on-site crematory in 2003, and a separate pet garden opened in 2009.
Families from across the High Desert use Desert View, including Victorville, Hesperia, Apple Valley, Adelanto, Phelan, and Oak Hills.
